Litta Partner — App Privacy Policy
Effective date: 15 July 2026
Last updated: 15 July 2026
This privacy policy explains how LITTA APP LIMITED (“Litta”, “we”, “us” or “our”) collects, uses, shares and protects personal data through the Litta Partner mobile application for iOS and Android (the “App”).
The Litta Partner App is the tool used by Litta's collection agents (“Partners”, “Agents” or “you”) to receive, accept and complete waste collection jobs. It is separate from the Litta customer experience. If you are a customer who books collections through our website, your personal data is handled under our main privacy policy at litta.co.uk/policy. This App-specific policy governs the personal data we process when you use the Litta Partner App.
We are the “data controller” of the personal data described in this policy for the purposes of UK data protection law, including the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
1. Who we are and how to contact us
- Data controller: LITTA APP LIMITED
- Company number: 10882506 (registered in England & Wales)
- Registered office: 5 Elstree Gate, Elstree Way, Borehamwood, Hertfordshire, WD6 1JD, United Kingdom
- Privacy contact: hi@litta.co.uk
We have not appointed a statutory Data Protection Officer, as we are not required to. If you have any question about this policy or about how we use your personal data, please contact us at hi@litta.co.uk.
2. The personal data we collect through the App
We collect the following categories of personal data when you use the Litta Partner App.
a) Account and identity data
Information that identifies you as a Litta Partner, such as your name, email address, telephone number, login credentials, and the details of your Partner profile and job history.
b) Location data — including precise location and background location
The App collects both precise (GPS) and approximate location data from your device.
We collect location data while the App is in use and also in the background while you are on shift or on an active job. Background collection allows us to keep routing, tracking and job information accurate even when the App is not open on screen. We use your location data to:
- show you nearby available jobs and determine which jobs you can be matched to;
- calculate distance and estimated travel time to a job;
- provide maps, directions and turn-by-turn navigation to job locations;
- optimise your route across multiple jobs;
- confirm your location at the pickup/job address; and
- power the live tracking link we provide to the customer for their booked collection, so they can see the collection is on its way.
You control location permissions through your device settings. If you disable location access, core features of the App — including receiving and completing jobs — will not work as intended.
c) Photos and media
The App accesses your device camera so you can take photos as part of completing a job — for example, photos of the waste items being collected and of the van. These photos are used as a record and proof of work for each job. The App does not use these photos to build a personal profile of you.
d) Device and usage data
We collect standard technical information such as device identifiers, app version and settings, in-app interaction and usage events, and diagnostic/crash information. This helps us operate, secure, troubleshoot and improve the App.
We do not collect special category data (such as health, race or religion) through the App, and we do not ask you to provide it.
3. Why we use your data and our legal bases
Under the UK GDPR we must have a lawful basis for each use of your personal data. Our uses and bases are:
- To operate the App and enable you to receive and complete jobs (account data, location, photos, device data). Legal basis: performance of a contract with you, and our legitimate interests in running the Litta platform.
- To match, route and navigate jobs, and to provide customers with live tracking (location data). Legal basis: performance of a contract and our legitimate interests in operating an efficient, transparent collection service.
- To keep records and evidence of collections (job photos, location, timestamps). Legal basis: legitimate interests and compliance with our legal obligations as a waste carrier.
- To communicate with you about jobs, service updates and support (contact and account data). Legal basis: performance of a contract and legitimate interests.
- To keep the App and our systems secure and to prevent fraud (device and usage data, location). Legal basis: legitimate interests.
- To comply with legal and regulatory obligations, including waste-carrier record-keeping, audit and tax requirements. Legal basis: legal obligation.
- To operate device-level features that require your permission, such as location and camera. Legal basis: your consent, given through your device settings, which you can withdraw at any time (though some features will then stop working).
Where we rely on legitimate interests, we have considered whether those interests are overridden by your rights and freedoms, and we balance them accordingly.
4. Who we share your data with
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with third parties for their own advertising or marketing. Your data otherwise stays within Litta's own systems, except for the limited service providers (“processors”) who help us run the App on our behalf:
- PostHog — product analytics, to understand how the App is used and to improve it.
- Customer.io — to send you service messages and notifications (such as email, SMS or push notifications).
- Intercom — to provide in-app live chat and customer/Partner support.
These providers act on our instructions under contract and may only use the data to provide their service to us.
We also share limited location data with the customer for a given job, in the form of the live tracking link, so they can see the status of their booked collection.
We may additionally disclose personal data where required to comply with the law, to enforce our agreements, or to protect the rights, safety and property of Litta, our Partners, our customers or others.
5. International data transfers
Litta stores personal data within its own systems. Some of our processors (for example, those named above) may process data outside the United Kingdom. Where personal data is transferred outside the UK, we ensure an appropriate safeguard is in place — such as an adequacy decision, the UK International Data Transfer Agreement, or the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses — so that your data receives an equivalent level of protection.
6. How long we keep your data
We keep personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy:
- Route and location history (including the travel history used for the live tracking link) and job photos: retained for as long as we are permitted to keep them under UK law, for audit and record-keeping purposes.
- Your last known location: retained only within the limits permitted by law.
- Partner account data: retained while your account remains active, for audit and record-keeping purposes, and deleted or anonymised when it is no longer needed.
Where the law sets a minimum or maximum retention period (for example for waste-carrier records or tax), we follow it.
7. Your rights
Under the UK GDPR you have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- request rectification of inaccurate or incomplete data;
- request erasure of your data in certain circumstances;
- request restriction of processing;
- object to processing based on our legitimate interests;
- request data portability; and
- withdraw consent at any time where we rely on consent (including by turning off App permissions in your device settings).
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at hi@litta.co.uk. We will respond within the timeframes required by law. Exercising these rights is free in most cases.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal data, you have the right to complain to the UK's Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk, by calling 0303 123 1113, or by writing to Information Commissioner's Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9 5AF. We would appreciate the chance to address your concerns first, so please do consider contacting us before you approach the ICO.
8. Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against unauthorised access, loss, misuse or alteration, including access controls, encryption in transit, and restricting access to those who need it. No system can be guaranteed to be completely secure, but we work to protect your data and to review our measures regularly.
9. Children
The Litta Partner App is intended for use by adults who are engaged as Litta collection Partners. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18 through the App.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you through the App. Please review this policy periodically.
